Norwegian Ski Sweater Guided KAL
Part workshop, part history lecture, and part social, this guided knit-a-long is for experienced knitters trying something new, or adventurous novices looking for a challenge!
This program includes 3 scheduled dates. The first session will feature a talk from local artist - and native Norwegian - Kari Mullen on the history of Scandinavian knitting traditions and techniques used in these types of garments. Participants will choose any pattern and yarn appropriate to the style, and our instructors are happy to help with your choices!
The second session will provide technical troubleshooting and feedback, as well as a chance to check in with fellow classmates.
The third session, to be scheduled in the new year, will provide assistance with steeking and finishing of your sweaters.
When: Wednesdays, October 17th and December 12th, 7-9pm. A third class will be scheduled in the new year, date TBA. You will be given 'homework' between classes; please allow additional time at home to work on your projects.
Prerequisites: general knitting skills (cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease); some fair-isle knitting experience is recommended.
Materials: Any Norwegian sweater pattern (we recommend Dale of Norway Designs) and appropriate yarn and needles.
Cancellations and Refunds: If there is insufficient registration for the class (minimum 3 participants), you will be notified at least 2 days before the start of class and your full fee refunded. If you wish to withdraw from the class entirely, you must contact Galt House of Yarn at least 2 business days before the start of classes to obtain a refund. We regret that there are no refunds for class absences or make-up sessions.
