Hats are a great way to expand your skills while making a practical accessory.  Over 3 sessions you will learn how to crochet two types of hats.  One crochet hat from the top down and one crochet hat from the bottom up.  Skills covered are working in a spiral, working a flat round and working in the round to create a tube shape.  We will also cover the magic circle start, slip stitch, increasing, half double crochet and treble crochet.

There is also a colour change option if you would like an extra challenge!

When: Wednesdays, March 19th, 26th and April 4th, 2025 from 7pm-9pm

Prerequisites: you have completed Crochet I and/or are comfortable with chaining, single crochet, double crochet, starting and finishing off crochet projects.

Materials needed:

5.00mm hook and a 4.5mm hook.
2 x 100g of a light worsted weight (no. 4) yarn or a heavier DK (No. 3) yarn.  No dark colours or variegated /textured yarn please for ease of learning (mild tweed or heathered yarn will still work well).  If you would like to try working with two colours for the bottom up hat, substitute two 50g balls of complimentary colours for 1 one of the100g ballsof yarn – same weight.

All class materials can be purchased at Galt House of Yarn, though you may bring your own. This class occurs after hours and the cash register will be closed. Please purchase items in advance.


Cost: $68

Cancellations and Refunds: If there is insufficient registration for the class (minimum 3 participants), you will be notified at least 2 days before the start of class and your full fee refunded. If you wish to withdraw from the class entirely, you must contact Galt House of Yarn at least 2 business days before the start of classes to obtain a refund. We regret that there are no refunds for class absences or make-up sessions.
